Redefining TV watching

'TV watching' can be delineated as sitting in front of the TV and traversing thru some 900 odd channels, without sticking to one channel for more than 5 seconds.

Days of 'Chitrahaar' and 'Oliyum Oliyum' were neat.

Oh yes! I miss those days when we used to crave for a sunday evening Tamil movie, friday evening oliyum oliyum and moghli cartoons. How exciting it was to see Sunday morning 8.30 SV Sekar's Vannakkolangal! I remember watching cartoons with such an amusement and used to call them 'bommai padam'. Though there were frequent 'thadangaluku varundhugirom' messages and mourning for a week if some national leaders die, those days were much peaceful than this age of 'information overloading'!
*Sighs*

the victorious,
S.Ve.shekar once said in an interview 'TV' stands for "Thadangalukku Varundhugirom!".

Rahman,
Yup. faster and faster, I end up with pain in the finger!

Coconut chutney,
Oliyum Oliyum was top-class. All because of this Sun TV saniyan.

I am more interested about the comment you have deleted rather than your post. What was that ????

Arun Sundar said...

lol...amar, I didn't delete that comment. Somebody posted it and decided against it. Crooked fellow you are!

wtf is that ?

More the options... more the pain! Actually its fun to keep sitching between channels especially if some one sitting next to you doesn't like it!

N.V.Prashanth said...

I meant switching between channels! was a typo!

@ Arun Sundar
It was meeee who deleted the first comment :D It was very much the same thing except that I was confused whether it was Vannakolangal or Vannathirai.. :D

Is there anyone who watches "chutti tv" now? they have dubbed 'nonstop nonsense' and "He-Man" in Tamil ... but no fun watching them ... :(

Chutti TV is on Sun TV, right ?

The anchors do weird stuff at the end of each show, i mean weird gestures.. You all are talking bout' that show, right ?

And,

Fast channel surfing can be useful sometimes - to see masala songs on SS music( just imagine i watch masala stuff on SS music, romba kevalama irukku, all cos' of the dumb CAS, no other 'proper' music channel), keep switching channels and you get to see snatches of the song in between. Best way to watch (someone like) Rakhee Sawant in the living room when everyone is around ..

Anyone else tried this ?

Prashanth,
You have some thought, dont u?! I like switching channels that way too irritating others :)

the victorious,
Certain comic series are better in english, though not understood. Tamil translation would kill the whole fun!

Preeti,
Multi-imaged dreams??! Wow! U can come up with a post on it :)

Busy Writer,
Total Conpeesion!

Vidhya,
I know. DD channel means "Disgustingly Ditsy" channel.

Guru,
I have done that too. Hmm...those good ol'days!

DD was the best... Chitrahar, Oliyum Oliyum, Vayalum Vaazhvum, Manai Maatchi, Wonder Baloon all sooper dooper programs...

Now, there is more vulgarity in all the programs (in any channel!!)...
