Valentine's Day

= Vela-not-ine's day! (Jobless losers day!)

i have another term too ... "vettipayal's day" :P .. the problem with our values taken for a ride doesnt end with valentine's day alone.. there are many things that have to be changed fundamentally.the first thing being the changing attitude of people.. m talkin abt the 'big deal' and 'so what' types.. :)

Neenga than ...

The billing lady at the cafeteria asks me casually if I'm going out for my Valentine's Day dinner tonight. I say 'No'. She then doubtfully asks me if I have got a valentine. I still say 'No'.

Arun Sundar said...

The way i see it, it was created as another day to excuse yourself of occupational stress, spend money needlessly so that the business can survive by making all fake offers and deals with discounts. A win-win situation for all. :)

Dilip,
lose-lose situation for single ppl.

The day he was killed became St.Valentine's feast day, which eventually became valentine's day...So technically speaking, when he's being killed doesnt matter!!! And ...full history theriyama over-a talk panreenga neenga!!!

Arun Sundar said...

Dhanya,
Because of whatever he did when he was alive, people celebrate his "death-day". If he was killed even before he thought about something like that, this valentine's day wouldn't even have started. And btw, one doesn't need to know history to blog. Wikipedia and Google would always come handy.

The point am driving at is, whatever he did when he was alive, he surely wudnt have intended his death(or rather life) to be celebrated it is being celebrated. Juz coz some money-making commercializing creeps make money out of his life, ya saying he being killed earlier wud have been better was in real bad taste. These ppl wud juz abt commercialize anything and make a big shopping fest outta it. Its got nuthing to do wid how the day actually originated!! Seriously...consider a communist China hoarding christmas trees everywhere!! Its sucks bigtime...Your views were almost like saying Christ shudnt have been born at all, condsidering Christmas being most tiresome season of the yr wht wid the amt of shopping which stresses ppl out!!

Yeah yeah...i know am going overboard...ya r entitled to ur own views...and considering the post was made 2 months, i'd rather shut up now!

Whoa Whoa!! Wait!!! Lemme get this straight!! No! Am not in anyway supporting those brainless dimwits or am i patronizing the day in itself. I juz had prob wid the kolai veri ya showed in poatuthallufying the man who was in noway responsible this absolute crap tht happens in the name of 'rolling wid times'!! Phew!!! Esp. when the guy was someone who solemnized marriages!! Ivanungalam kalyanam panra idea laya indha alumbu panranga...Paavam pa St.Valentine!!!! Idhai partha avare nondhu poyiduvaar!!
