Tirupati...

...is totally f*cked up.

People are too civilised to be part of crowds. It may not be too long before Lord Balaji moves His hands from 'blessing' pose to His forehead, unable to witness the commotion.

Purpose of the visit gets defeated, when one gives the heaviest sigh of the lifetime on exiting the temple!

So true!!!
God is everywhere, avlothan. :--)

But you know I have been to Thirupathi only once, and I saw the God for 3 seconds, and wonders followed in my life. I would like to believe it was God's works.

kabali the kind guy !!
u still call them people .

Exactly my sentiment! But people still find the need to go there in order to feel God's "miracles" as long as those people exist, God save Venkats!

Seriously.....
I had been to Tirupati when I was a kid..
I felt really good and divine then...
But when I went there again last year, I was quite disappointed with commercialized face of Tirupati.....

Can't agree with you more, Arun. I don't know if I really believe in God, but yours is so funny. Here is something that happened once when I was there. Totally irrelevant, though.

I just wanted to see how one of those metal detectors worked. This one is the frame type where we walk through it. I just touched it and examined it (Mechanical Engineer, you see!!!) above my head. And then moved on. After, say, 30 minutes in the queue, we had moved ahead about 50-60 feet. I just turned back and noticed all people who were coming behind thought it was some sculpture of sanctity. They started touching it and did the "kann-la othi"fying. I was in splits. I was not even able to concentrate on Venky after that.

In total contrast, when we went to Guruvayur, there was a power cut when we were standing in the queue. It was slightly dark. After a few seconds, the power came back. The queue was intact and people were standing in their respective positions. Quite a disciplined crowd, I must say. If the same thing had happened in Tirupati.......

I think, f*cked up and Tirupati don't go together. Its our call to go there or not to go there. I don't think people in India ever want to be part of solution, but sure know how to bitch about it...P.S, I am not picking on you, it just what I feel

I went last december and it wasnt as bad. We did the darshan in 2 hours and laddu in 1 hour. But the rain made it very difficult. We were all soaked by the time we were done.
